Mizzou adds another recruit for 2012 class

The Missouri football program has added Brandon Holifield of Tallahassee, Fla., to the 2012 recruiting, as announced today by Head Coach Gary Pinkel. Holifield is a 6-foot-5 inch, 215-pound tight end from Godby High School, where he has been a standout in both track and basketball.

Since November 6, 2011, we have had an entire team of folks that have worked every day transitioning Mizzou for our move to the Southeastern Conference. There was certainly a lot of work which led up to the announcement in the Fall, but the pace and inclusiveness "ramped up" significantly after that time.

For one Clinton High School basketball team, their season ended last night with a two point loss.  However, the other Clinton team won last night and will now play tomorrow night.

District competition got underway last night in Harrisonville for both the Clinton boys and girls.

Congratulations to Brogan McWilliams who was awarded one of eleven scholar/athlete scholarships from the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association and the McCarthy auto group.  This was awarded based on playing ability, character and leadership on and off the field and academic success.

POLE CARRIES EDWARDS INTO SHOOTOUT
Carl Edwards finished ninth in Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout but is now first on the list of eligible drivers for the 2013 running of the race.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that the team has signed free agent CB Stanford Routt.

Mizzou women's basketball guard Morgan Eye has been recognized by the Big 12 Conference and Phillips 66 as Freshman of the Week. The award is given to an athlete based on performance in games from February 13th-19th. This is the first time that Eye has received this honor.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will be having a Hunter Education Class, Friday night Feb. 24 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  You must attend both sessions. The Clinton wrestling squad sent three wrestlers to the Class Two State Championships this past weekend in Columbia, and they came away with a second-place finalist and the team came in 24th place.

The Mules got some hot shooting in the second half and came from behind to post a 76-63 win over the 14th-ranked Bearcats of Northwest Missouri on Saturday afternoon at Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Missouri.

The Kansas City Royals announced the club has exercised the 2013 option year with manager Ned Yost, who was named the 16th full-time manager in Royals history on May 13, 2010.

Rex Hudler and Steve Physioc are joining the Royals' TV broadcasting team, Fox Sports Kansas City announced on Friday.
