Mizzou adds another recruit for 2012 class

The Missouri football program has added Brandon Holifield of Tallahassee, Fla., to the 2012 recruiting, as announced today by Head Coach Gary Pinkel. Holifield is a 6-foot-5 inch, 215-pound tight end from Godby High School, where he has been a standout in both track and basketball.

• The Mules go for a season-sweep of Missouri Western in a key matchup on Wednesday night in St. Joseph. Central Missouri is tied for third in the league standings just one game back of first place NW Missouri State, while the Griffons are two games out of the eighth and final spot for the MIAA tournament with two to play.

2/22-Mizzou Loses at Home
Rodney McGruder scored 24 points and Kansas State upset No. 3 Missouri 78-68 Tuesday night, the Wildcats' second win this season over the Tigers.

Tiger Fans:
Since November 6, 2011, we have had an entire team of folks that have worked every day transitioning Mizzou for our move to the Southeastern Conference. There was certainly a lot of work which led up to the announcement in the Fall, but the pace and inclusiveness "ramped up" significantly after that time.

For one Clinton High School basketball team, their season ended last night with a two point loss.  However, the other Clinton team won last night and will now play tomorrow night.

District competition got underway last night in Harrisonville for both the Clinton boys and girls.

2/21-Senior at CHS Awarded Scholarship
Congratulations to Brogan McWilliams who was awarded one of eleven scholar/athlete scholarships from the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association and the McCarthy auto group.  This was awarded based on playing ability, character and leadership on and off the field and academic success.

POLE CARRIES EDWARDS INTO SHOOTOUT
Carl Edwards finished ninth in Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout but is now first on the list of eligible drivers for the 2013 running of the race.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that the team has signed free agent CB Stanford Routt.
“Stanford has a proven record of success in the NFL,” Head Coach Romeo Crennel said. “He’s a talented player that has spent seven seasons in the AFC West, so he is familiar with us and our division opponents.

2/21-Former Montrose Lady Jay is Freshman of the Week!
Mizzou women's basketball guard Morgan Eye has been recognized by the Big 12 Conference and Phillips 66 as Freshman of the Week. The award is given to an athlete based on performance in games from February 13th-19th. This is the first time that Eye has received this honor.

Survey shows high school athletes suffered over 850 brain injuries during fall semester

A new survey shows that Missouri students suffered 871 suspected concussions during the 2011 fall semester.

2/20-Hunter's Ed. Class
The Missouri Department of Conservation will be having a Hunter Education Class, Friday night Feb. 24 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  You must attend both sessions. 2/20-Clinton Wrestling Update
The Clinton wrestling squad sent three wrestlers to the Class Two State Championships this past weekend in Columbia, and they came away with a second-place finalist and the team came in 24th place.

After 12 quarters of basketball Friday night in Warrensburg, the Clinton varsity teams came out with a win and a loss.

By mid-afternoon on Sunday, the practice fields were empty, white clouds lazed across the pale blue sky, the dark White Mountains awaited the caress of the setting sun. Inside the Royals' clubhouse, not a player was to be seen -- only three attendants carefully folding yellow towels, surrounded by lockers marked by crisp uniforms hung with meticulous care.

Missouri has so many options on offense that it isn't surprising when different players step up to help the Tigers keep winning.
Kim English scored 21 points and Michael Dixon added 15 on a day where Ricardo Ratliffe was held to just four points, leading lead No. 3 Missouri to a 71-62 win over Texas A&M on Saturday.

The Mules got some hot shooting in the second half and came from behind to post a 76-63 win over the 14th-ranked Bearcats of Northwest Missouri on Saturday afternoon at Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Missouri.

Royals pick up option year on Yost

The Kansas City Royals announced the club has exercised the 2013 option year with manager Ned Yost, who was named the 16th full-time manager in Royals history on May 13, 2010.

2/13-Royals TV and Radio for 2012
Rex Hudler and Steve Physioc are joining the Royals' TV broadcasting team, Fox Sports Kansas City announced on Friday.
They will join Ryan Lefebvre, Jeff Montgomery, Joel Goldberg and Nate Bukaty on the 2012 telecasts.

Thanks to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Major League owners and players, some Royals benefited from substantial salary increases for 2012.The minimum salary for this year went up to $480,000, an increase of 16 percent over last season's $414,000.
