The Henry County Commission met pursuant to adjournment at the courthouse in Clinton, Missouri on Tuesday November 5th.
Those members present were: Jim Stone – Presiding Commissioner
Rick Fosnow-North District Commissioner
Dale Lawler – South District Commissioner
Rick Watson – County Clerk
At 9:00 a.m. Commissioner Stone brought the meeting to order.
The minutes from the Thursday, October 31, 2024 meeting were read; Commissioner Fosnow made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Lawler seconded the motion, motion carried.
Expenditures from the following were approved to be paid:
Law Enforcement Department Court Administration Tri County Child Support
Road and Bridge Buildings and Grounds General County Government
Recorder of Deeds 27th Circuit Treatment Court Assessor
Capital Schools Law Enforcement Fund Deputy Supplemental Salary Fund
Emergency Management Director Mark Hardin shared that they have had problems with the internet at the Emergency Operations Center since the high winds of last week. It is being addressed, but has been problematic. The group discussed the Salamander software personnel audit he has been working on.
Assessor Scott Largent discussed some address issues in the county.
At 9:30 Sheriff Aaron Brown and Captain Jacque Watson met with the Commission. Discussed was the purchase of a 2021 Tahoe that is already outfitted for K9 use. The Sheriff also shared that things are getting caught up in the office. The staff has been able to forward reports to the prosecutor at a faster pace than in the past.
Captain Watson shared that they have been busy with various county’s inmates. They are currently housing inmates from Platte County.
Sheriff Brown shared that they need to trade out 2 more vehicles, but priorities such as outfitting current vehicles, in the fleet, with radios take precedence. He shared that he would like to get another Tahoe with next year’s budget.
Dennis Bowers, Road and Bridge Supervisor, shared with the Commission that the last culvert order has been placed. They are for Honey Creek Special, Springfield, and Shawnee Townships. He shared that Great River Associates has sent the 3 bridge specs for potential future BRO projects. The group discussed some of the photos of the specific bridges.
Dennis shared that the CORPS of Engineers is sending a letter stating that a permit is not required for the bridge replacement on NW1501 Rd, in Bogard. The crew will begin work as soon as the letter is received.
An abstract of fees, collected by the Recorder of Deeds, for the month of October was reviewed and approved.
Commissioner Lawler discussed hiring someone to record the Chapter 100 public hearing scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on November 19th at the Benson Center. Commissioner Fosnow shared that he would work on finding someone.
At 10:40 Commissioner Lawler made a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Fosnow seconded with a roll call vote of Lawler – yes, Fosnow – yes, and Stone -Yes.
