Shirley Ruth Terry age 84 passed away on August 8, 2026. Shirley was born September 10, 1941 to Anna Mae {Pettigrew} Brooks and Frank Brooks of Warsaw, Missouri. Shirley was the youngest of five girls. Shirley grew up in the Warsaw area.
In 1958 Shirley married James R. Hargrave moving to Buckner, Missouri and started a family. To this union three children Ronald, Ronda and Rodney Hargrave. Shirley worked for Lake City Ammunition Plant for many years before returning the Clinton area.
In 1969 Shirley married Darrell Terry and grew the family by two additional children Darolyn Denise and William Terry.
Shirley worked for the University of Missouri Extension office for many years working with kids in 4H. She welcomed many children into her life and home. If a child needed something she would do her best to make sure they had things they needed. Shirley served on the Leesville School Board for more than 20 years. She firmly believed children needed good teachers and learning conditions.
Shirley worked hard to provide for her family by gardening and canning what she could every year. Shirley loved fishing, playing cards, country music, family and friends and if you left her house hungry it was your fault.
It always brightened her day when the grandkids and great grandkids would come to see her. And her great great-granddaughter blowing her kisses.
Shirley leaves behind her husband Darrell Terry, daughters, Ronda White (Larry), and Darolyn Denise Terry, sons Rodney Hargrave (Jeanette), and William Terry; grandchildren, Dean White (Skyler), Jennifer McKnight (William), Shirley McFadden (Walter), James Hargrave, Daniel Terry, Mikayla Terry, Joshua Hargrave (Melissa), Matt Hargrave (Shannon), Zec Hargrave (Ashley) Izra Hargrave, Malichi Hargrave; great-grandchildren, Bailey Moser (Ben), Dylan White (Chezney), Chloe McKnight, Emma McFadden, Harold McFadden, Maximus Hargrave, Nora Hargrave, Ruby Hargrave, Cora Lee Hargrave, McCoy White, McCree White and Gentry White; great-great-grandchild, Maisie Moser, and another great-great on the way in February; her sister, Eula Schockmann; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded by her parents; three sisters Eunice, Beulah and Priscilla; one stillborn son; and son, Ronald Hargrave
.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Parks Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
