National Weather Service Heat Warning: Our area is expecting dangerous heat to build into the area for this weekend into next week. An excessive heat watch was issued for the Kansas City metropolitan area. A strong consideration for this was the unique requirements of our core partners and the fact that urban areas trap heat, providing little overnight.
That said, it’s likely most of the area will see heat index values in the 100 to 105 range Friday through Saturday, with heat related warnings and/or advisories likely. There may be a respite in the heat on Monday with potential for cloud cover and precipitation in the area. But the pattern causing the heat really builds back for next week, with heat indices potentially in the 105 to 110 range.
