John Walter Brown

John Walter Brown, 85, of Clinton, Missouri, formerly of McLouth, Kansas passed away Monday morning, May 6, 2024 at his home. He was born August 10, 1938 in Independence, Mo., the son of John Brown and Carrie (Cavender) Brown.

John was employed with Canteen for 32 years supplying vending merchandise to various businesses around the Kansas City area. After retirement he worked for Glasscock Enterprises in Clinton. John attended the Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Clinton Elks Lodge, #1034, and was active in various bowling leagues. He also enjoyed gardening and raising Brangus cattle.

He married Patsy Ann Jeffress on January 14, 1978 in Higginsville, Mo., and she survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, surviving are five daughters, Melinda C. Schnakenberg, Oak Grove, Mo., Brenda Lawson, Gallatin, Mo., Sherri Fenwick (Gavin), Clinton, Mo., Paula Schussler (Kent), Montrose, Mo.; one son, John Wesley Brown (Marilyn), Boyce, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Alan Brown; and two sisters, Caroline and Virginia.

John’s wishes were to be cremated and no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
