Missouri is starting to dry out from last month’s heavy rains. The latest drought monitor map shows an area of moderate drought has developed in northeast and north-central Missouri, surrounded by a large abnormally dry area. Excessively dry areas have also popped up this week in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas and in parts of southern Missouri. A drought alert remains in effect for all of the Show-Me State through September 1st.
