Beavertail Solar has commenced construction of the Beavertail Solar Project, located in Davis Township, Henry County, Missouri.  The 400 MW utility-scale solar project, developed by Ranger Power, expects to generate an estimated $1 million in new annual revenue for Henry County’s local tax districts during the project’s lifespan, helping to fund schools, roads, and other essential local services. Beavertail Solar will make annual payments to Davis Township totaling over 50% of its current annual budget. The project represents an over $500 million investment in Henry County and will usher in hundreds of jobs during construction as well as other significant economic benefits. The Beavertail Solar Project is located adjacent to the now decommissioned Montrose Coal plant and can use most of the existing electrical infrastructure already in place—a true win-win for the local economy and community.  Beavertail Solar has a contracted buyer for the clean power that the project will generate, which will bring impactful new investment, totaling over a billion dollars, to the entire State of Missouri.

“We are delighted to be under construction on the Beavertail Solar Project. Ranger Power is a dedicated responsible community partner throughout the lifecycle of the project and will work closely with the County and Township to honor best practices and standards as the project proceeds,” said Adam Cohen, Ranger Power CEO. “Protecting Missouri’s natural resources, including the environment and wildlife, will remain at the core of Ranger’s development principles for the Beavertail Solar Project. We remain committed to working with landowners in protecting private property rights, and the community to pioneer the next generation of power and deliver a new era of energy investment to Henry County.”

Construction of the Beavertail Solar Project is expected to continue through 2026 and the project will be operational in 2027. While Davis Township voted to institute zoning in the August 6, 2024 primary election, Beavertail Solar has already commenced construction and invested millions of dollars since 2017, and any future zoning regulations will not apply to the project. Beavertail Solar will remain a partner in the community, committed to standards of excellence throughout construction and the lifecycle of the project.

Once complete, the Beavertail Solar Project will temporarily utilize 0.0004% of Missouri’s agricultural land while providing economic and environmental benefits to Henry County. At the end of the project’s life, it will be fully decommissioned and project related infrastructure removed at the operator’s expense, and land will be available to farm for future generations.

Ranger Power is excited to bring this unique opportunity to Henry County and is committed to the long-term partnership with the community and its landowners alike.
