Sheriff Brown is pleased to announce that Christian Hunter Thompson, who fled from a scheduled court hearing at the Henry County Courthouse yesterday, is now in custody. “Following yesterday’s incident, our team worked swiftly and diligently to locate Mr. Thompson and bring him into custody without further incident,” stated Sheriff Brown.

Immediately after Mr. Thompson’s escape, detectives from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office launched a full investigation, conducting interviews and searches both within Henry County and across county lines. Their efforts paid off today, October 11, 2024, just after 11 a.m., when the investigation led law enforcement to the 300 block of N. 5th Street in Clinton, where Mr. Thompson was believed to be hiding.

Upon arrival, Deputy Saulters, Detective Stutzman, Lt. Kubilus, Major Hills, and Sheriff Brown surrounded the residence and began negotiations with the occupants inside. After nearly one hour, Mr. Thompson cooperated with law enforcement and exited the residence peacefully. He was taken into custody without incident.

Lt. Kubilus, who oversees detective’s operations, remarked, “This outcome is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of our law enforcement team, and we thank everyone involved in helping to bring this matter to a safe and successful resolution.”
