
Two Nevada residents hit Sheriff Deputy vehicle in a two-vehicle Bates County accident.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 23rd on I-49 in Bates County as a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by 26-year-old Jody Dines of Nevada, struck the rear of a stationary 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 31-year-old Bates County Deputy Larry Marshall of Butler, with its emergency lights on.
Deputies were assisting the Rich Hill Fire Department with traffic while they were fighting a fire in the median.
Following the incident Dines was transported by Vernon County EMS to Belton Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger of the Town and Country, 25-year-old Jason Jackson of Nevada was transported by Life flight Eagle Air Ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with serious injuries.
