Gary Michael Taylor, 79, of Clinton, Missouri, died late Friday evening, November 22, 2024, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Mo.
He as born September 20, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Herbert Lee Taylor and Georgia Elizabeth (Jackson) Taylor. On May 28, 1965, he married the love of his life Janet Gail Hicks in Clinton, Mo., and she survives of the home. They were the parents of a son, Michael.
Gary attended high school in Windsor and served in the United States Army. He worked at Central Missouri State University (now UCM) for several years in building maintenance and was a bus driver for sports trips. He worked as a surveyor for the Army Corp of Engineers and helped on the Truman dam and reservoir project. He was most proud of working with his son at Whitehead Consultants in Clinton for many years, cherishing every moment. He enjoyed traveling, reading history books, working on the computer, writing, drawing, and researching his genealogy.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He took his job as Pops very seriously, and loved his grandkids with all his heart. Pops loved to share a meal with his family and especially enjoyed Michael’s BBQ meat with a side of Jenn’s baked beans. Thanksgiving was Pop’s favorite holiday as he got to spend time with his family and enjoy amazing food. He loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Notre Dame Football, and old westerns while snacking with his bride. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his wife, Janet, survivors include a son, Michael Taylor and his wife Jennifer, Clinton, Mo.; 2 grandchildren, Gehrig Michael Taylor, Clinton, Mo., and Peyton Elizabeth Taylor (Tyler Bland), Clinton, Mo.; a sister, Sally DePue, Gardner, Kansas; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Herbert Taylor and Donald Taylor; and 2 sisters, Vivian Crossfield and Shirley Ross.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to the Henry County Historical Society in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
