January 6, 2025
As a member of the Clinton City Council representing Ward One, I am pleased to give an update to the citizens of Ward One regarding some of the issues you have voiced your concerns about.
Ever since April of 2024, I have received several concerns of trash, junk and tall grass and other issues. Those complaints have either been cleaned up, issued tickets and awaiting court dates or referred to city staff for follow-up. Please be aware, due to the legal process Code Enforcement and the city must abide by, some of these issues can take several days or weeks to rectify or even receive a court date. Feel free to contact the appropriate city department regarding progress of your particular issue.
I commend our city staff, council members but most of all, you the citizens of Clinton for your commitment put forth in 2024 towards numerous high profile projects from the new airport facility, city pool improvements and much needed equipment updates for city departments as well as the hiring of additional police and fire personnel. Street cuts as a result of utility construction are being addressed and repaired. Thanks to a majority of the City Council, approval was given for an additional $30,000 towards condemnation of structures around town as well as $80,000 to be used for additional resources towards Code Enforcement for a more aggressive enforcement program in 2025.
I encourage citizens to attend committee and council meetings to receive updates on issues you may have or just find out how your tax dollars are being spent.
I also encourage the citizens of Clinton to contact your city council members with your concerns or suggestions and keep in touch with them regarding progress towards getting our city cleaned up and keep Clinton progressing forward. Your council representatives contact information is available at City Hall.
