Howard R. Harvey

Howard R. Harvey, 85, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning at home with Pretty Kitty laying on his lap.

Howard was born June 27, 1939, in Windsor, Missouri, beloved son of Randall and Ruby Harvey (Durham). On January 28, 1960 he married the love of his life, Janet Sue Harvey (Morgan). Howard and Janet respected and loved one another for the next 30 years.

Mom and Dad moved to Buckner in August of 1960. Dad worked for 36 years at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. He also wrenched on cars at the Cozy Corners Garage on some occasions. He was also a Scout Master. In his retirement he was an amazing woodworker and could literally fix anything. Our weekends and summer vacations were spent with the family at Lake of the Ozarks and camping. In the winter he went deer hunting with friends and family on the Durham farm in Warsaw, MO. Deer hunting and fishing always brought on a great big smile.

Howard was the kindest man to anyone and everyone, NOT one person was a stranger. His brother once said he could talk your ear off, you might even see him talking to a fence post. Howard was a gentle man he loved his animals with pure passion. Dad was the very Best Dad in the whole wide World. He loved his grandchildren intensely. He loved Jacob O’Connor, his angel on earth, as a son.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Randall; his wife, Janet Sue; brother, Melvin G. Harvey; aunt, Arlene Adair; granddaughter, Ocalla Victoria Snyder; father and mother-in-law, Logan and Urban Morgan.

He is survived by his son, Howard D. Harvey; daughter, Dana Burns-Johnston and son in law, Jeff Johnston; his sister, Lana Perry and her husband Kurt; his aunt, Dorothy J. Harvey; four grandsons: Jake, Logan, Jimmy and Jaren and their spouses; 11 great grandchildren; one niece; two nephews; and two great nephews.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, Mo. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Howard requests in lieu of flowers or gifts please donate to Shepsplace.org/donate. Condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
