American Lamb Consumer and Producer Workshop, Osceola, St.  Clair County

Osceola, MO-The University of Missouri Extension in St. Clair County will host the  American Lamb Consumer and Producer Workshop, an event aimed at fostering  connections with producers and consumers. 

“The primary purpose of the workshop is to educate consumers about the nutritional  benefits and versatility of American lamb, connect potential consumers with local  producers, and strengthen the local market,” says David Brown, MU Extension Sheep and  Goats Specialist. 

The event also seeks to inspire youth by showcasing the versatility of American lamb,  encouraging future interest and involvement in this industry. With generous support from  St. Clair County State Bank, scholarships will cover the cost for 20 FFA and 4-H students  to attend this year’s event, says David. 

The workshop topics and presenters include:  

  • Breaking Myths About American Lamb: Dr. David Brown (MU Extension Sheep  and Goats Specialist) 
  • Running an Efficient Sheep Enterprise: Dr. Dan Quadros (Assistant Professor and  Small Ruminant Specialist at the University of Arkansas) 
  • Nutritional Benefits of American Lamb: Lynnlee Parrott (MU Nutrition and Health  Field Specialist) 
  • The Power of Storytelling in Marketing Grass-Fed Lamb: Elisabeth Fostich (Fostich Farms, Edwards, MO). 

The workshop will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M at First  Baptist Church, 555 Walnut Street, Osceola, MO. The cost is $10.00 per adult, which  includes a lamb burger dinner, free American Lamb recipe booklets, and educational  materials.

Registration closes on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, and is limited to 50 participants.
