LaDonna Sue “LD” Fountain

LaDonna Sue “LD” Fountain was born on June 13, 1939, in Steelville, MO. LaDonna worked for Colt Industries, following high school graduation. For LaDonna’s adult career, she worked at Marion Labs. LaDonna enjoyed working closely with the previous owners of Marion Labs and the Kansas City Royals, Ewing and Marion Kauffman, better known as “Mr. and Mrs. K.”.

LaDonna was married to Jim Fountain for 36 years, living in Belton, MO. Jim and LaDonna had a Class A (bus) RV and enjoyed touring the country, with making the occasional visit to Cambridge, OH, as LaDonna was an avid Cambridge Glass collector. Jim passed away in 2000. LaDonna moved to Cuba, MO and was very active with the Cuba Historical Society.
LaDonna met Jack Dotzman in November 2004, via an online dating app and married three years later, in October 2007. The newlyweds purchased an unfinished house with a fishing pond and 40 acres in Leeton, MO, making it a beautiful, warm, and welcoming home. With the reconstruction and redecorating completed, the couple enjoyed traveling, domestically and internationally, fishing, and attending the Dinner Theater with friends. LaDonna had a true love and compassion for all her furbabies, even taking in the occasional stray, over the years.
LaDonna and Jack are active members of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Clinton, MO, where LaDonna took so much pride in helping decorate the church.
LaDonna had been suffering from Diverticulitis and a serious stomach infection, requiring daily antibiotics infusions to the local Clinton hospital. LaDonna was about half way through the infusion treatments, until her body just couldn’t fight the infection any longer. LaDonna went to live with our Lord and Savior on Friday, January 31, 2025.
LaDonna leaves behind her loving husband, Jack Dotzman, two brothers, Tom Hendrix of Prairie Home, MO and Warren (Shirley) Hendrix of Steelville, MO, one sister, Gail Miller, two step-daughters, Theresa (Bruce) Dowell of Raymore, MO and Peggy (Terry) Fullbright, of Overland Park, KS, along with four step-grandsons, Jackson Dowell, Brent Dowell, Nathan Fullbright, and Patrick Fullbright. She was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Rush.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., just prior to the Mass. LaDonna will be laid to rest at Liberty Cemetery in Steelville, MO at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.
In lieu of flowers, please dedicate a donation in LaDonna’s name to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
We cannot thank you enough, for your love, support, and prayers given to our family during this difficult time.
