Marjorie Ellen Baskins, 80, of Independence, Missouri, died Thursday, April 10, 2025, at St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
She was born March 2, 1945, near Calhoun, Mo., the daughter of Carl Orman Trolinger and Ruth Irene (Brown) Trolinger. On February 15, 1963, in Calhoun, Mo., she married Roy Lee Baskins and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2013.
Marjorie was the Valedictorian of her graduation class at Calhoun High School. She attended community college and worked in the Fort Osage School District as a para-professional. She then worked as a secretary at Cler-Mont Elementary for several years before retirement. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and traveling, especially traveling and spending time in her last year with her dear friend, Bob Rowe. Her love for history led to discovering her own genealogy and she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she enjoyed spending time with each of them.
Survivors include 6 children, Lisa Lyn Katsulis (Paul), Lexington, Mo., Lori J. Baskins, Richmond, Mo., Michael Lee Baskins, Calhoun, Mo., Rebecca S. Baskins, Bates City, Mo., Joshua Scott Baskins, Independence, Mo., and Patricia A. Watts, Smithton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Sarah Ellen Hall (Seth), Amanda R. Hatfield, Megan F. Farris (James), Frank P. Katsulis (Gabby), Ellen C. Baskins, Joshua Scott Baskins, Jr., Logan Lee Baskins, Eric Dean Leal, Bethany RuthAnn Hunsel, and Ella Grace Watts; 6 great-grandchildren, Brynleigh, Daniel, Andrew, Shiloh, Leilani, and Giovanni; 2 brothers, Bob Trolinger (Joyce), Calhoun, Mo., and Dale Trolinger, Windsor, Mo.; 2 sisters, Barbara Ross (Gale), Warrensburg, Mo., and Kathy Trolinger, Oak Grove, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Jo Trolinger; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins. In addition to Roy, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Trolinger; a sister-in-law, Leah Trolinger; and a great-grandson, Demetrious Hall.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Dr. Dennis Wistrom officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to benefit the children attending Cler-Mont Elementary School and contributions can be made payable to Lori Baskins in care of the funeral home.
