Center for Human Services (CHS) was proud to host Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek as part of the statewide MO ABLE Press Tour. The tour aims to raise awareness about MO ABLE and how it can benefit individuals with disabilities.
CHS joined the effort to help educate families, team members, and community partners on how MO ABLE accounts can support greater financial independence without jeopardizing critical benefits like Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). These tax-free savings and investment accounts allow eligible individuals to save up to $19,000 annually—or up to $34,060 if employed—while maintaining access to needs-based benefits. “For too long, individuals with disabilities were limited in how much they could save without risking vital services,” said Center for Human Services CEO, David Kramer. “MO ABLE changes that, opening doors to housing, education, assistive technology, and more.”
CHS welcomed Treasurer Malek to its headquarters in Sedalia, where he shared insights into the growing impact of MO ABLE. Under his leadership, account values have increased by 46%, with Missouri now second only to Ohio in nationwide participation. During the month of April, new MO ABLE accountholders will receive a matching contribution of up to $25 on their initial deposit.
At Center for Human Services, we’re committed to promoting tools that support life beyond limitations. MO ABLE is one more way we can help individuals take steps toward financial security and independence.
