Gwendolyn Marie Hix, 86, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died late Sunday evening, April 20, 2025, at the Kansas City Hospice House.
She was born May 13, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo., the oldest of 15 children born to Jesse Beryel Lee and Florence (Lunsford) Lee. On December 31, 1954, she married Robert Dale Hix in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1982.
She worked at the International Shoe Factory and McMillen’s in Windsor. After moving to Warrensburg, she worked at Harmon Electronics/GE for many years before retiring. She enjoyed flowers, crafts, and was a talented seamstress. She loved being outdoors. She liked to fish, travel, and take scenic car rides. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Warrensburg.
She is survived by 4 children, Brenda Espen (Randy), Warrensburg, Mo., Joyce Hix, Hughesville, Maryland, Darrell Hix (Tammy), Knob Noster, Mo., and Darrin Hix (Regina), Windsor, Mo.; 7 grandchildren, Jacob Hix, Jarrod Hix (Makenna), Brian Espen, Tim Espen (Jaylene), Kristin Espen, Chris Wilson, and Andrea Keary; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Jerry Lee, Olathe, Kansas, Lloyd Lee, Grain Valley, Mo., Tom Lee (Sharon), Pleasant Hill, Mo., and Beryel Lee, Warsaw, Mo.; 5 sisters, Linda Mitchell, Weslaco, Texas, Judy Cline, Peculiar, Mo., Joy Benson, Warrensburg, Mo., Carol Myers (Dave), Independence, Mo., Jackie Casey, Grandview, Mo.; 3 brothers-in-law, Hoyt Hix (Sammie) Independence, Mo., Ronnie Hix, Windsor, Mo., and Claire Reed, Lebanon, Mo.; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. In addition to her husband Dale, she was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Lowell Lee, Mike Lee, and Gregg Lee; and 2 sisters, Beverly Lee and Donna Haller.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House in care of the funeral home.
