Roadrunners Track and Field Closes Regular Season Strong at Viking Classic

DES MOINES, Iowa – April 28, 2025 – The State Fair Community College men’s track and field team wrapped up the regular season with 16 top-eight finishes at the Viking Classic hosted by Grand View University on Friday, April 25.

Freshman Adam Broekemeier of Edwardsville, Illinois, won the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.36. Freshman Bennett Mantooth of Hermitage captured first in the pole vault with a mark of 3.45 meters.

Sophomore Isaiah Waller of Versailles took the discus title with a throw of 52.38 meters and finished second in the hammer throw with 55.85 meters. Freshman Zeshaun Ballance-Gray of Kansas City won the triple jump with a collegiate-best leap of 14.79 meters.

Sophomore Peyton Ligon of Ozark tied for second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.83 meters.

Freshman Conner Finke of Montgomery City placed third in the javelin with a throw of 40.75 meters. Sophomore Joseph Bland of Versailles took third in the shot put with a mark of 15.17 meters and placed eighth in the discus with a collegiate-best 39.84 meters.

Freshman Demarii Williams of Rolla finished third in the discus with a collegiate-best 45.59 meters and fifth in the shot put at 14.65 meters.

The Roadrunners’ 4×100-meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 47.24.

Freshman Legend Freelon of Kansas City finished fourth in the high jump (1.83 meters), and freshman Steven Skelton of Waynesville placed fourth in the triple jump (12.33 meters) and eighth in the 400 meters (54.38 seconds).

Sophomore Jasper DeGraffenreid of Eldon placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.53 meters.

“We finished our regular season with a bang,” head coach Brad Hagedorn said. “Our team was highly competitive and finished with wins in many events. I would have liked the meet to have been scored. I feel we would’ve finished quite high. This completes our fourth season, and it has certainly been our most successful. I would like to thank all our athletes and coaches for a wonderful experience this year.”
