
Two Pettis County, Missouri, sheriff’s deputies are recovering after being shot early Friday while executing a search warrant in a drug case, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident happened off State Highway BB near Longwood Road in Pettis County.
Troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control are investigating the incident.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 5:44 a.m., the Pettis County Special Emergency Response Team was executing the search warrant in a narcotics case.
When deputies entered the home at 5:45 a.m., two of them were shot and one of them returned fire but didn’t hit the suspect.
Investigators say the deputies have non-life-threatening injuries.
One of them has been released from the hospital while the other one remains there.
The suspect was arrested and is being held in the Pettis County Jail.
On Friday, investigators were mapping out the area around the home on Highway BB.
Other investigators were looking through cars parked in front of the home.
There are two different parts to the ongoing investigation.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the shooting between officers and the suspect.
Pettis County Prosecutor Tony Farkas said he was waiting Friday afternoon to get a probable cause statement from the sheriff’s office to charge the suspect.
The name of the suspect and two sheriff’s deputies have not yet been publicly released.
