
Color Our World is the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Henry County Library. The program runs from June 7th – August 2nd, and listeners and readers ages 0-17 may register for the program at the Clinton and Windsor locations or on the Beanstack reading app at henrycolib.beanstack.com. Each registrant will receive a book and goody bag and will have the opportunity to earn prizes over the summer by submitting their number of minutes read.
The fun begins with the Summer Reading Program Kickoff on Saturday, June 7th. This event will be held at the Clinton location from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Ventriloquist Diana Rockwell (https://www.facebook.com/ventriloqueen/) will be performing at 10:00 a.m., and Summer Reading Program registration will begin immediately following the show. Along with the book and goody bag, participants will receive tickets for free snow cones and popcorn. Library hours on Saturday will be from 8:00 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Clinton, and the Lenora Blackmore Branch in Windsor will be closed for the event.
In conjunction with this year’s Collaborative Summer Reading Program theme, Storytime, Creation Station activities for grades 4-12, and a Construction Day will focus on color, art, and creativity. Storytimes are held each Tuesday in Clinton at 10:30 a.m. and every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Lenora Blackmore Branch in Windsor. Creation Station art activities will be held at each location as follows: Clinton from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on June 18th & 25th, July 9th & 23rd, and Windsor from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on June 17th & 24th, and July 8th & 22nd. A Construction Day is being held in Clinton on Saturday, July 12th, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. for all ages to join in and create your own masterpiece!
There are even more colorful activities to enjoy this summer! The library will be hosting Storyteller Priscilla Howe (https://www.priscillahowe.com) in Clinton on Saturday, June 28th, at 10:30 a.m. On July 19th, Animal Wonders (https://www.animal wonders.net) will be visiting at 10:30 a.m. in Clinton. To conclude this year’s reading program, a Wrap-Up Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. in Clinton. The celebration will feature a performance by Mad Science of Greater Kansas City (https://kansascity.madscience.org/) and be followed by the grand prize giveaways.
