Alan Roy McCalister was born on March 8, 1956, the third child of Albert Donel McCalister.and Dorothy McCalister (Scarrow). He was joined in marriage to Lori Sue (Posey) McCalister on September 8, 1980 in Columbus, Mississippi.
Alan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1979 to 1999, retiring after 20 years of honorable service at Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, Missouri. After his retirement, he and Lori made their home in Windsor, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Moore; his father, Albert Donel McCalister; a brother, Michael McCalister; and two of his beloved daughters, Chrystal Renee McCalister and Brandi Leigh McCalister. He is survived by his loving wife, Lori McCalister; his children, David Posey, Christopher McCalister and Lisa Williams; a sister, Patricia Taylor and a brother, Earl McCalister, both of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, with his family spread across Florida, Missouri, Arkansas and beyond.
Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed bowling, playing pool and watching his favorite western, Lonesome Dove, but found his greatest joy in making memories with his family. Alan’s strength, humor and love for his family will be remembered always.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the Rock Springs Baptist Church, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Burial will be at the Rock Springs Cemetery, Eureka Springs.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Windsor, Mo., at a later date.
