A Clinton woman is facing criminal charges following an alleged home intrusion and attempted abduction that occurred on June 13, according to a probable cause statement filed by the Clinton Police Department.
Donna Lynn Vaughn was arrested after police were called to a private residence in Clinton for a reported kidnapping attempt. Officers responded around 4:00 p.m. after a report that Vaughn, who had recently been released from the Clinton Police Department on a separate charge, had unlawfully entered the home and refused to leave.
The incident unfolded when a 14-year-old girl at the residence told Officer Patrick Barry that Vaughn came into the house and was repeatedly told to leave. The teen explained that Vaughn insisted she needed to retrieve shoes and belongings, despite not having permission to be there. According to the teen, Vaughn attempted to grab her while she walked past.
The girl’s mother reportedly intervened after Vaughn refused to exit the residence, physically removing her from the home. At one point, Vaughn allegedly sat on the front porch and would not leave even as the homeowner and a witness continued demanding she depart.
A male witness, also 14 years old, stated he observed Vaughn inside the home and went to inform the girl’s mother. He later assisted in efforts to remove Vaughn from the premises. The witness reported that after multiple refusals to leave, Vaughn was finally physically escorted outside, where she remained on the porch until Clinton officers arrived and placed her under arrest.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Vaughn is now facing potential charges in connection with the unlawful entry and the disturbance.
The Clinton Police Department continues to investigate the matter.
