The Clinton City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, located at 105 E. Ohio Street. The agenda includes a mayoral appointment to fill a vacant Ward 1 council seat, infrastructure updates, and policy considerations affecting city employees and services.
The meeting will begin with roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of the June 17 meeting minutes. A key item early in the agenda is Mayor Carla Moberly’s recommendation for appointment to the currently vacant Ward 1 council position, which will restore full representation to the city’s governing body, since Stacia Wilson had to stepdown as council person after moving residence out of Ward 1.
Committee reports will dominate the session, beginning with the Public Works Committee. Highlights include a resolution to approve a budgetary agreement with IMS Infrastructure Management Services for pavement assessment, and a report noting the success of the recent city-wide cleanup, which removed nearly 78 tons of material.
Street and wastewater projects are also on the docket, including updates on the South Meadows pump replacement, crack sealing by Vance Brothers, and the completion of a CIPP lining project by Ace Pipe. Additionally, 62 manhole inspections have been completed, identifying several areas in need of repair.
A request to close the downtown Square earlier for Clinton Cruise Nights, beginning at noon instead of 2:00 p.m., is up for consideration and comes with a 2-0 committee recommendation for approval.
The Public Safety Committee will present Bill No. 2025-03, a proposed ordinance updating the city’s employee alcohol and controlled substance policy, replacing all previous ordinances related to testing and substance use.
On the finance front, the Council will vote on Resolution No. 01-2025, which would formalize an agreement between the City of Clinton and the Henry County Collector for property tax collection services.
The meeting will conclude with reports from the Mayor and City Administrator. No unfinished or new business is listed for open session, though the Council is scheduled to enter a closed session under Missouri law to discuss legal matters.
Residents interested in speaking during the meeting are encouraged to submit a speaker card prior to the call to order. Accommodations are available for those requiring assistance by contacting the City Clerk’s office at least 48 hours in advance.
