The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has announced a significant milestone in its ongoing effort to reduce prescription drug misuse and protect public safety. During the most recent Drug Take Back initiative in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), over 570 pounds of unwanted and expired medications were collected and safely disposed of.

The Sheriff’s Office credits this success to the strong support and participation of the community, emphasizing the vital role citizens play in keeping potentially dangerous medications out of the wrong hands.

The initiative is made possible through a longstanding partnership between the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Community Organization for Drug Elimination, with past support from the Truman Lake Community Foundation.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to continue participating in the program. A secure medication drop-off container is available 24/7 in the bonding hallway of the Sheriff’s Office, allowing for safe and anonymous disposal of unwanted or expired medications at any time.
