The Clinton Police Department is proud to announce that K9 Bronco has received a bullet- and stab-protective vest thanks to a generous donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Bronco’s custom-fitted vest, valued at $1,800, is U.S.-made and certified by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). The vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and is embroidered with the sentiment, “Born to Love – Trained to Serve – Loyal Always.”

Founded in 2009, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charity that provides potentially lifesaving protective vests and assistance to law enforcement K9s across the country. To date, the organization has provided more than 6,150 vests, totaling over $6.9 million in value, to departments in all 50 states.

The program is available to K9s that are at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with a law enforcement or related agency. Dogs with expired vests are also eligible.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. welcomes tax-deductible donations of any amount. A sponsorship of $1,050 covers the cost of a vest, which weighs approximately 4-5 pounds and comes with a five-year warranty.

For more information, to volunteer, or to make a donation, visit www.vik9s.org or call (508) 824-6978. Contributions can also be mailed to P.O. Box 9, East Taunton, MA 02718.
