Voters in the Montrose R-14 School District will head to the polls on Tuesday, August 6, 2025, to decide on a proposed increase to the district’s operating tax levy.
According to the official sample ballot, the Montrose R-14 Board of Education is seeking authorization to increase the operating property tax levy ceiling by $0.6600 per $100 of assessed valuation. If approved, the levy would rise from the current rate of $4.2551 to $4.9151 per $100 of assessed valuation.
The proposed increase would begin with the 2025 tax year and remain in effect through the 2037 tax year — a period of 12 years — to help fund ongoing operational needs of the district.
Voters will be presented with the following ballot question:
“Shall the Board of Education of the Montrose R-14 School District, Henry County, Missouri, be authorized to increase the operating tax levy ceiling to $4.9151 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the purpose of funding the operational needs of the District? If this proposition is approved, the adjusted operating tax levy of the District is estimated to increase by $0.6600 from $4.2551 to $4.9151 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the 2025 tax year and will be applied for the 2025 tax year and remain in effect through the 2037 tax year.”
Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Local election authorities encourage all eligible voters in the Montrose School District to participate in this important decision that will impact the future of education in the community.
