The 2025 Color Our World Summer Reading Program at the Henry County Library is coming to a close, and the community is invited to celebrate its success at the End of Summer Wrap-Up Party this Saturday, August 2, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. The event will take place in the Friends of the Henry County Library Community Room.

A highlight of the event will be a special performance by Mad Science of Greater Kansas City, followed by the highly anticipated grand prize drawings. While attendance is not required to win most prizes, those hoping to win the $100 Walmart gift card must be present during the drawing.

Participants are reminded to submit all reading minutes to either the Henry County Library or the Lenora Blackmore Branch by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, in order to be eligible for the prize drawings.

The Summer Reading Program aims to help children and teens maintain their reading skills during the break while fostering a lifelong love of books. This year, 325 readers registered for the program, logging an impressive total of 108,732 reading minutes so far.

The library extends its gratitude to the generous local sponsors and outreach supporters, as well as to the Missouri Secretary of State for awarding the 2025 Summer Library Program grant. Funding for this initiative was provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act.
