Voters in the Montrose R-14 School District will head to the polls on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, to decide on a proposed transfer to the district’s operating tax levy.
Voters will be presented with the following ballot question:
“Shall the Board of Education of
Montrose R-XIV School District of Henry
County, Missouri be authorized to
increase the operating tax levy ceiling to
$4.2214 per $100 of assessed valuation
in tax year 2025 and to $4.6773 per
$100 of assessed valuation in tax year
2026 and thereafter for capital
improvements and general operating
expenses of the District?
If this question is approved, the
operating tax levy of the District is
estimated to increase by $0.3385 per
$100 of assessed valuation in tax year
2025 and by an additional $0.4559 per
$100 of assessed valuation in tax year
2026. In connection therewith, the
District expects to make corresponding
reductions to its debt service tax levy of
$0.3385 per $100 of assessed valuation
in tax year 2025 and $0.4559 per $100
of assessed valuation in tax year 2026,
which would result in the estimated
overall tax levy of the District to remain
unchanged.”
Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Local election authorities encourage all eligible voters in the Montrose School District to participate in this important decision that will impact the future of education in the community.
