Henry County Health Center in Clinton is increasing existing efforts to promote infant  safety within our community, focusing particular attention on safe sleep practices and vehicle safety  with free cribs and car seats to eligible families.

Families with infants six months or younger who are unable to afford a safe crib may be eligible to  receive a free portable crib. To qualify, parents must be enrolled in WIC or Medicaid, or have a  household income at or below 185% of federal poverty guidelines. Participation in two educational  sessions on safe sleep practices is required.

Henry County Health Center also provides free car seats to eligible families who do not currently have  one. Recipients must be Henry County residents and the child’s primary caregiver. Car seats are  installed on-site by a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), who also provides hands-on  education about proper installation and fit.

Even families who do not qualify for a free car seat are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the  Health Center for a consultation on safe car-seat use, installation, and fitting.

In partnership with Clinton School District Parents as Teachers, the Health Center will host a free car seat check event on Tuesday, September 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Clinton Early Childhood  Center parking lot. CPSTs and Health Center representatives will be available to inspect car seats and  provide safety information.

For more information or to find out if you qualify for a free crib or car seat, contact Adrianne Nichols at  Henry County Health Center by calling 660-885-8193 or emailing Adrianne.Nichols@LPHA.mo.gov
