Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) is pleased to announce the formation of its new Project Management Team with the appointment of Heidi Miller as Project Director and Chris Smith as Project Manager. This strategic move is designed to support the organization’s continued growth and enhance its ability to deliver high-quality healthcare to the communities it serves.

The Project Management Team will play a critical role in supporting GVMH’s future growth by overseeing and executing a wide range of strategic initiatives. This team will be responsible for ensuring that all healthcare projects, whether clinical, operational or administrative, are effectively planned, managed and completed. By coordinating cross-functional teams, streamlining processes and ensuring that projects align with organizational goals, the team will contribute to improved patient care, operational efficiency and long-term sustainability. Their work will not only support day-to-day hospital operations, but also ensure GVMH is well-positioned to adapt and thrive in the evolving healthcare landscape.

In her role as Project Director, Miller will oversee large-scale healthcare projects, providing leadership and direction to cross-functional teams and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and meet strategic objectives. Her role includes planning, IT, construction, resource allocation, risk management, stakeholder communication and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations to improve patient care and operational efficiency.

Miller brings over 25 years of experience in health information management and healthcare technology implementation, including a 17-year tenure at Nuance/Microsoft, where she most recently served as a Senior Project Manager overseeing high-profile, complex software implementations. Prior to that, she led HIM operations at Lake Regional and Salina Regional Health Systems. She is a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and has a proven track record in team leadership, cross-functional collaboration and healthcare operations.

Smith, as Project Manager, will plan, execute and oversee projects to improve operations, patient care and compliance with regulations. He will develop strategic initiatives, lead diverse teams of healthcare professionals and monitor project progress to ensure timely, cost-effective completion.

Smith is a U.S. Army veteran with more than 15 years of leadership experience, most recently serving as Deputy Director of Coaching and Training for the Mission Command Training Program at Fort Leavenworth. Throughout his military career, he directed large-scale training and operations efforts, led globally deployable advisor teams and managed multimillion-dollar budgets. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management, a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and is currently completing his Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) certification. His extensive project management and coaching expertise make him well-equipped to lead strategic initiatives at GVMH.

“We are thrilled to welcome Heidi and Chris to the GVMH team,” said Molly Teichman, Chief Operating Officer at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare. “As we continue to grow and enhance the care we provide, it is essential that we have strong project leadership in place to manage complex initiatives and foster collaboration across departments. Together, their background, experience and skill sets will help us drive innovation, and ensure we continue to provide the highest quality healthcare to our communities.”
