City of Sedalia to Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Fire Station, Training Center, and Bowling Alley

The City of Sedalia invites the community to join local leaders, partners, and residents for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of construction on Sedalia’s newest Fire Station, a Fire Training Center, and the Memory Lanes Bowling Alley. 

The ceremony will take place Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at 601 E. Broadway (please th 

enter from 5 Street). The event will be held rain or shine. 

Speakers at the ceremony will include: 

  • Mayor Andrew Dawson 
  • Sue Heckart 
  • City Administrator Matthew Wirt 
  • Park Board President 
  • Sedalia Fire Chief 
  • Parks & Recreation Director 
  • Representatives from Nabholz Construction 
  • Representatives from Hoefer-Welker Architecture 

“This project is a major investment in Sedalia’s future,” said Mayor Dawson. “Our community will benefit not only from enhanced public safety with the addition of a new fire station and training facilities, but also from the recreation and gathering opportunities offered through the new Memory Lanes Bowling Alley.” 

The Sedalia Fire Department’s new station and training center will expand coverage and improve response times while providing a dedicated facility for firefighter training. The new bowling alley, Memory Lanes, will add a family-friendly entertainment venue to the community as part of Sedalia Parks & Recreation’s ongoing improvements. The public is encouraged to attend and celebrate this milestone in Sedalia’s growth and development.
