The Clinton Cardinals gave their fans a Homecoming to remember Friday night, pulling off a dramatic 20-14 overtime victory over the Oak Grove Panthers at Cardinal Stadium. The win was especially sweet—it marked Clinton’s first triumph over Oak Grove since 2009.

The packed stands were electric from start to finish as both teams battled in a hard-fought contest. Clinton’s defense came up with key stops throughout the game, keeping the Cardinals within striking distance as the offense looked for momentum. With the game tied at 14 at the end of regulation, the stage was set for a nail-biting overtime finish.

In the extra period, Clinton capitalized with a determined drive into the end zone to take the lead. The defense sealed the win by holding Oak Grove out of the end zone on their possession, sparking a rush of red-and-white excitement across the field and in the stands.

The Cardinals’ Homecoming win over Oak Grove not only ended a 16-year drought but also sent a powerful message: Clinton football is rising again. The Cards record is now 4-1 on the season.
