On Friday, September 26, Rural Region A hosted its Quarterly Emergency Management Conference in Lexington, Missouri, bringing together local, regional, and state officials to address critical topics impacting public safety and preparedness.
The agenda included discussions on a variety of issues, such as preparations for the 2026 World Cup Soccer event, updates on state and federal legislation, and a keynote presentation from Jim “Subby” Sublette of Radford Media Group and Subby’s Weather Talk. Sublette, who also serves as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management for Henry County, focused on the long-term weather forecast as communities head into the fall and winter months.
Organizers emphasized the value of these quarterly meetings, noting that participation by emergency management leaders and state agencies strengthens communication and ensures greater readiness for events that could significantly affect local communities. By working together in sessions like this, agencies across the region can remain informed, coordinated, and better prepared to respond when it matters most.
