The Wheeler Livestock Auction in Osceola hosted its Annual Anniversary Customer Appreciation Sale on Thursday, October 2, 2025, welcoming state leaders, customers, and community members for a day of celebration and recognition.
Byron Wheeler and Tom Waters opened the program by welcoming the large crowd gathered at the sale barn, before introducing Missouri Director of Agriculture, Chris Chinn. Director Chinn, along with other state officials, was on hand to make a special announcement for Missouri’s agriculture community.
Chinn announced that Doug Evans has been appointed as the new Market News Reporter at Wheeler Livestock Auction, a role critical for providing producers and buyers with timely and accurate livestock market information.
“This is an exciting day for Missouri agriculture,” Chinn said. “Having a dedicated Market News Reporter right here at Wheeler Livestock Auction will strengthen our communication of market trends and help producers make informed decisions.”
Also attending the event were State Senator Sandy Crawford (R–28), State Senator Lincoln Hough (R–30), and State Representative Jim Kalberloh (R–125), all of whom emphasized the importance of Missouri’s livestock industry and its role in supporting rural economies.
As part of the appreciation sale, the barn treated customers to ribeye steak sandwiches for lunch, honoring the buyers and sellers who keep the livestock market thriving.
“This annual sale is about more than business—it’s about community,” said Byron Wheeler. “We’re proud to host Director Chinn, our state leaders, and to welcome Doug Evans into this important role.”
The Wheeler Livestock Auction continues to be a cornerstone of the Osceola area’s agricultural economy, and Thursday’s announcement further underscored the barn’s significance in Missouri’s livestock market network.
