Clinton, MO With the busy end of the year approaching, New Growth Transit is recruiting volunteer drivers in Henry and St. Clair counties to help neighbors reach medical appointments, jobs, the grocery store, and other essential destinations. Volunteers choose when they’re available and are reimbursed at 70 cents per mile, so they are never out of pocket.

“Transportation is a real barrier for many rural residents who can’t drive themselves,” said Kelly Ast, Chief Mobility Officer for New Growth Transit. “As the year winds down and the holidays approach, emotions run high and people feel a greater urgency to take care of medical needs before schedules fill up or benefits reset. A single ride can mean the difference between getting care and going without. Our volunteer drivers make that possible — and many tell us the sense of connection and purpose they gain is every bit as meaningful as the miles they give.”

Opportunities are open to residents in and around Clinton, Osceola, Deepwater, Urich, Montrose, Appleton City, Lowry City, and beyond.

Volunteer driving offers:

  • A flexible way to give back and stay connected
  • The joy of helping neighbors stay independent
  • Simple scheduling with one-on-one support
  • Mileage reimbursement at $0.70 per mile

Drivers use their own vehicles, set their own hours, and receive training and ongoing support from New Growth Transit staff. No special license is required—just a valid driver’s license and a heart for helping others.

How to get started
Volunteers can call 417-283-7991 or visit newgrowthtransit.org to apply. After a short application and training, approved volunteers can begin accepting rides that fit their availability.
