LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo., Oct. 28, 2025 — The University of Central Missouri will celebrate the expansion of its Lee’s Summit footprint with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday recognizing the new Summit Technology Campus, a 25,000-square-foot hub designed to accelerate regional workforce development in healthcare and technology.
UCM President Roger Best will be joined by Full Employment Council President Clyde McQueen and Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development Commissioner Bennett Boggs for remarks during the event. The ceremony is hosted by UCM Lee’s Summit and the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and will include refreshments.
The expanded campus now encompasses the Missouri Innovation Campus and the newly established Summit Technology Campus at 800 NW Chipman Road, Suite 5850, Door 66, in Lee’s Summit. The STC consolidates classrooms for UCM academic and career certificate programs alongside UCM’s Center for Workforce and Professional Education, giving students access to training, upskilling, and career services in one location.
In addition to instructional space, the STC houses satellite offices for the Missouri Job Center, the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, and the Full Employment Council. The co-location is intended to streamline employer engagement, job placement, and talent pipeline initiatives for the Kansas City metropolitan area.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at the Summit Technology Campus. Members of the news media are invited to attend and interview UCM officials. Parking is available on site.
RSVP is not required but appreciated. Media and guests with questions may contact Nicole Lyons at ncooke@ucmo.edu.
