Elderly Man Drowns in Truman Lake Friday Morning

An 83-year-old man drowned Friday morning at Truman Lake after falling into the water beneath a boat lift, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident happened around 9:55 a.m. at the Osage Bluff Marina. Authorities say the man fell into the water, prompting a family member to jump in after him in an attempt to rescue him. However, efforts to retrieve him were unsuccessful until nearby individuals helped pull both men from the water.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
