City of Sedalia – January 8, 2026 – After a competitive interview process, the City of Sedalia is pleased to announce the promotion of Dimitrius Maduros to Chief Building Official.
While Dimitrius has served the City for nearly two years as a Building Inspector, this promotion reflects not only his technical expertise, but also his people-first, solutions-oriented approach to public service. Most recently, Dimitrius served three months as Interim Chief Building Official, where he emphasized clear communication, consistency, and collaboration with residents, contractors, and property owners.
During his time as Interim CBO, Dimitrius helped implement same-day building inspections, extended code enforcement timelines when appropriate, and assisted with improving the City’s Standard Operating Procedures to promote transparency, fairness, and consistency. In addition, he played a key role in reducing long-standing code enforcement cases from nearly 300 to approximately 50, allowing staff the capacity to work more closely with homeowners and business owners on a one-on-one basis. His focus has been on ensuring code compliance while also taking the time to explain processes, answer questions, and work through practical solutions.
Dimitrius is a Licensed Master Plumber and former plumbing business owner, with professional experience throughout the Kansas City area and Johnson County, Missouri. His background in the trades provides firsthand insight into the challenges faced by contractors and property owners, a perspective he brings into his daily work serving the Sedalia community.
His professional accomplishments are notable. Dimitrius earned his Certified Building Official (CBO) certification in under two months, well ahead of the typical 18-month timeline. He holds both Journeyman and Master Plumbing licenses and has completed 26 current ICC certifications across residential and commercial inspections and plan review, including building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
In his role as Chief Building Official, Dimitrius will oversee and supervise the City’s Building Inspectors and Code Enforcement Department, continuing efforts to provide responsive service, clear guidance, and consistent enforcement.
Dimitrius and his wife moved to Sedalia in August 2025 and are proud to call it home. He shares that Sedalia feels like a true hometown and looks forward to continuing his path of public service by working alongside the community to keep projects moving forward, questions answered, and standards applied fairly and consistently.
