WARRENSBURG, MO – One person was injured following an overnight commercial fire north of Warrensburg. The Johnson County Fire Protection District was dispatched at approximately 1:15 AM to a reported structure fire at W.A. Jackson Firearms, located at 682 NW 11 Road. The business owner was inside the building when it began filling with smoke. He was unable to locate the source of the fire and exited the structure.

The owner was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and has since been released.

Firefighters arrived to find the building heavily involved. Four JCFPD stations responded and worked for approximately an hour and a half to bring the fire under control.

“Crews encountered a well-established fire when they arrived,” said Captain Joe Jennings. “Our focus was on extinguishment and preventing any extension beyond the building.”

The building is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
