If you are part of a nonprofit organization, school, church or community organization looking to fund a project, then take note: The annual grant cycle of the Truman Lake Community Foundation opened February 1. This will be the only grant cycle the foundation offers in 2026.
Applicants have until March 2 to apply, with a maximum award of $5,000 per grant. Truman Lake Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, and the online form and details about eligibility can be found at https://www.cfozarks.org/find-grants. Once there, search for Henry County or Truman Lake Community Foundation.
“Since our inception in 1998, we have awarded more than $10 million locally,” said Deanna Hendrich, who chairs the grant committee and is president of the TLCF board. “We value the difference that we can make in the communities we serve.”
Hendrich encourages all who are interested to review the online application to determine if they are eligible. Multiple awards are made each grant cycle. Anyone with specific questions is welcome to email trumanlakefoundation@gmail.com.

Clinton Main Street–Ever wonder what Clinton Main Street actually does?
We work behind the scenes (and sometimes out front!) to keep our historic downtown active, welcoming, and growing.
That means:
- Planning community events
- Supporting and promoting local businesses
- Working on beautification projects
- Preserving the character of our downtown
- Partnering with volunteers, businesses, and organizations
- Finding ways to bring more people to shop, dine, and explore downtown
Our goal is simple: a downtown our community can be proud of.
And we love getting to do this work for Clinton.

Volunteers needed for Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program
Interested in helping older adults in your community?
We are seeking volunteers for our Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program.
The program needs volunteers, especially in Benton, Henry, Hickory, Johnson, Lafayette, and Pettis counties.
“This opportunity is perfect for someone who wants to help older adults in the community without committing to a long-term volunteer responsibility,” said Benefits Counselor Coordinator Penny Humphrey, who operates the TCE Program for Care Connection. “We provide the support that the volunteers need to succeed in this extremely rewarding service.”
Care Connection provides all the training and software necessary for volunteers to assist seniors in electronically filing their state and federal income tax returns. Volunteers need basic computer skills.
The tax sites are in the senior centers; volunteer times are flexible, but generally average five or more hours a week from February through April. Each site must have at least one tax preparer and one quality reviewer to ensure that tax returns are error-free.
The TCE program enables older adults to receive refunds from their income taxes, and this money often helps cover essential home repairs, medical expenses, or other unbudgeted necessary items.
To learn more or to volunteer, call Penny at 1-800-748-7826 ext.228.
