Yvonne (Stottler) Van De Wiele Hoover

Yvonne (Stottler) Van De Wiele Hoover, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, in the Texas home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law. Born in Carlinville, IL, on March 24, 1937, Yvonne was one of ten children. She grew up in Southern Illinois and later Geneseo, IL, where she graduated from Geneseo High School in 1955. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary and head of industrial relations for John Deere Harvester at their headquarters in Moline, IL for 16 years. She worked with employees and union members to solve complex employment issues. The communication abilities she owned, and award-winning knowledge of shorthand, prepared her for this career. Securing this position right out of high school, was an unheard of achievement for a young lady without work experience at that time. She later moved to Missouri and Texas, serving as an office manager and bookkeeper for Agri Lawn Landscaping in Kansas City, and helping needy children in Lubbock, TX to access healthy school lunches. After retiring, she continued her work as a stay-at-home Grandma. She remained youthful and energetic and could run circles around her younger counterparts well into her later years.

Yvonne believed her most meaningful roles were those in which she cared for others. A lifelong follower of Christ, she remained strong in her faith until the end. She professed that the best advice that she had ever received and given was to “put your trust in Jesus.” She especially loved being a mom to her four daughters, and later a grandma and great-grandma. She described her daughters as her most proud achievement. She was a devoted wife for 35 years, a loving mother-in-law, and a dedicated sister, aunt, daughter, niece, and cousin.

Yvonne was also a close neighbor and friend to many over the years, facing adversity and challenges with inspiring strength, love, and tenacity. Fiercely loyal and protective, honest and transparent, she consistently went out of her way to make others happy. She always set her standards high for herself and others. If she had an issue with someone’s actions, they were the first person to hear it from her. She was the best mom, grandma, and great-grandma anyone could know. Providing a steadfast example of love to those around her, she truly loved her family with all of her heart.

Throughout her long life, Yvonne enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Europe, California, Las Vegas, South Dakota, Idaho, Arizona, Florida, Colorado, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, West Virginia, Mexico, and the Caribbean. She also cherished her trips back to Missouri and Illinois to visit family, and especially loved trips that she could take her family on. With a generous heart, she was so happy to be able to take her daughters to the Virgin Islands, and on a cruise to Mexico, her sister Maggie on a trip to Europe and her granddaughters Haleigh and Shawna on a trip to San Antonio and Corpus Christi. An avid fan of games, she loved playing bingo, the slots, cards, poker, Yahtzee, and Monopoly.

Yvonne was a skilled organizer, money manager, and homemaker who excelled at hospitality. Whether gardening, cooking, canning, landscaping, or decorating, she took pride in creating beautiful homes for her family. Talking to others—even strangers—came easily to her; she took a genuine interest in other people’s lives, including the many medical professionals that she met. She always offered them smiles and her complete attention, remembering specific details about their families.

As a mom and mother-in-law, Yvonne was continually grateful to others for all of the “little things” in life: a cup of coffee, a Frappuccino, a phone call, a birthday card, a photo, or help with daily tasks. She loved watching football, especially the Chiefs, and enjoyed watching the show Heartland with her grand-puppies, Holly and Maggie. She remained a loyal fan of the Royals, Rangers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and KU Jayhawks for much of her life. In sports and in life, she always rooted for the “underdog.”

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Mason Stottler and Mabel Dot Fox (Stottler); her brothers Mason, Roy, Danny, Truman, Paul, and Emmett; her sisters Maggie and Pauline; her daughter Denise; her ex-husbands Jim and Rick, father-in law, Clayton and mother-in-law Maxine, especially close aunts Ruth and Joyce, several nieces and nephews, and numerous relatives and friends, including her special Woodbridge friends, Vicki and Virginia, her best bingo buddy.

She is survived by her daughters Monique (John) Mitalovich of St. Louis, Dawn (Ben) Payette of Prosper, TX, and Collette Hughes of Celina, TX; her grandchildren Sarah, Cody, Adam, Amber, Haleigh, Shawna, Isabelle, Riley, and Noah; and her great-grandchildren Sage, Noah, Harley, Bradley, and Rick.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. While flowers are appreciated, the family welcomes donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Laurel Oak Cemetery.
