R. Carol Acker

R. Carol Acker, 83, of Windsor, Missouri, died Thursday morning, February 12, 2026, at her home.

She was born March 25, 1942, in Ionia, Mo., the daughter of Roy Leo Richwine and Ruby Pearl (Harms) Richwine. On January 19, 1962, she married Walter Frank “Shorty” Acker at the Windsor United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2021.

Carol graduated from Windsor High School in 1960. She worked at Hallmark in Kansas City for a short time before moving back to Windsor. She was a rural mail carrier with the United State Postal Service for 30 years. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and collecting chickens. She was a devoted racing wife to her husband. They enjoyed many trips and vacations with their children, Chandra and Curt, and racing friends. She loved her family, especially her granddaughters, Kyndal and Karrigan.

Survivors include 2 children Chandra Acker, Kansas City, Mo., and Curtis M. Acker, Lake Lotawana, Mo.; 2 granddaughters, Kyndal L. Arnette (Preston), Biddeford, Maine, and Karrigan L. Maxwell, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Peggy Richwine, Windsor, Mo.; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. In addition to her husband Shorty, she was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, William “Bill” Richwine and wife Joyce, Larry Richwine, and Rick Richwine; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Acker, Sr. and wife Marjorie; a sister-in-law, Ruth Marshall and husband Jay “J.C.”; and 3 nephews, Gabe Richwine, Kenneth Acker Jr., and Jim Cunningham.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor John Streit officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Windsor High School Master Scholarship Endowment Fund for the Walter “Shorty” Acker scholarship (checks payable to WHS MSEF) in care of the funeral home.
