Rebel Ann (Hemminger) Wivell, 69, of Windsor, Missouri, moved from this world to her permanent home Wednesday evening, February 11, 2026, at the home she loved so much with her sister by her side.
Rebel was born June 17, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of John Lloyd and Joyce Randolph (Teel) Hemminger. She married John Smith Sr and though they later divorced they remained in one another’s lives extensively and were the best card mates. She then married Kenneth Wivell, who preceded her in death.
Rebel was a 1975 graduate of Windsor High School, forever a werewolf. Although Rebel spent many years as a nursing assistant and dietary aide where she cared and cooked for others her true passion was spending time with her family and challenging her brain. Her favorite pastimes included crosswords, puzzles, cards, and dice. She also loved being surrounded by nature and connecting with her native side.
She is survived by one son, John Smith Jr and a daughter, Rebecca (Jeff) Wilcox; her beloved grandchildren: Savannah Smith, Deanna, Cheyenne (Christian), and Daniel (Hannah) Woodward, Dominic Wilcox, Rebel (Mikkel) Woody, Dixie (Dillon) Sauter, and Karma Michaelis; 6 great-grandchildren, 3 siblings, Vicki Hamilton and Ellen Burdick both of Colorado; and a brother, Herbert Hemminger of Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews including Mike (Cim) Mothersbaugh Windsor, Mo.; adopted family Dawn Hembree and Anna Wilson, and a dear friend, Shelly Parkhurst, Windsor, Mo.
In addition to her husband, Rebel was preceded in death by multiple great grandchildren, multiple grandchildren including Elaya Sweet, a daughter Angela Bull, 3 sisters Diana Kay Hall, Tana Jo (Angel) Knutson, and Judy Hemminger, her parents, and her dear friend Wanda Sellers.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
