Clinton Main Street representatives recently traveled to Jefferson City to participate in Main Street Capital Day, joining leaders from 20 other Missouri communities to advocate for the continued support and growth of downtown districts across the state.
During the event, local representatives met with state legislators to discuss the importance of the Missouri Main Street network and to share the measurable impact Main Street programs have in their communities. Conversations focused on the role Main Street initiatives play in strengthening small businesses, preserving historic buildings, and driving economic development in traditional downtown areas.
Organizers emphasized how investment in downtown districts not only supports local entrepreneurs but also enhances community identity and long-term economic vitality. By highlighting success stories from Clinton and other communities, participants underscored the value of maintaining strong partnerships between local programs and state leadership.
The event was coordinated and guided by Missouri Main Street Connection, Inc., the statewide organization that supports and connects Main Street programs throughout Missouri.
Representing Clinton at the Capitol were Jared Goodbrake, Vice President of Clinton Main Street; Mike Meyer, President; and Sarah Goth, Director. They were joined by Representative Jim Kalberloh and Keith Winge of Missouri Main Street Connection.
Clinton Main Street leaders said the day provided an important opportunity to strengthen relationships with lawmakers and ensure rural and small-town communities continue to have a voice in statewide economic development conversations.
