Voters in St. Clair County will head to the polls Tuesday, April 7, 2026, for the Municipal General Election, with a number of local races and ballot questions appearing across the county’s sample ballots.

Countywide Questions

All county voters will consider several countywide issues, including:

  • Proposition 1, which asks whether St. Clair County should impose a countywide sales tax of one-half of one percent for general revenue purposes.
  • A St. Clair County Use Tax Question, asking whether the county should impose a local use tax at the same rate (0.5%) as the total local sales tax rate to be used for general revenue purposes.
  • A question asking whether the office of Prosecuting Attorney should be made a full-time position in St. Clair County.

Municipal Races and Questions

Several cities and villages across St. Clair County have contested races and local ballot measures.

In Appleton City, voters will choose a mayor between Matthew Smith and Ryan Engeman. There are also alderman races in Ward I and Ward II, along with a city ballot question.

In Osceola, voters will decide a city question related to utility services and will select candidates for alderman in both the North and South wards.

In Lowry City, the ballot includes the mayor’s race and alderman contests in both the East and West wards.

Additional village trustee races appear in Collins, Roscoe, and other communities throughout the county.

School Board and Special Districts

Several school districts have board of education positions on the ballot, including:

  • Weaubleau R-III School District
  • El Dorado Springs R-II School District
  • Other district races depending on voter location.

Voters in certain areas will also weigh in on special district issues, including:

  • A Collins Special Road District question.
  • A Harry S. Truman Water District question affecting portions of St. Clair and neighboring counties.

Because ballots vary by precinct, voters are encouraged to review their specific sample ballot ahead of Election Day.

The Municipal General Election will be held Tuesday, April 7, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents should bring a valid photo ID as required under Missouri law.
