
There will be an upcoming informational class on hypertension 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 25 at the Ellett Memorial Hospital Conference Room
presented by St. Clair County Health Center Public Health Nurse, Corey Dobbs. Information will be covered on overview of hypertension, risk factors, lab tests, prevention, and more. This class is for everyone. This class is the start of a collaboration between EMH and the St. Clair Co Health Center to provide the community with monthly classes over various health topics. Classes will be hosted by EMH and presented by Public Health Nurse, Corey Dobbs. New topics will be covered each month. In addition to these FREE information classes, the St. Clair County Health Center also offers: birth & death certificates, well water testing, car seats (for parents who can’t afford one), car seat checks, Narcan (free), safe crib program (gives free pack and play with bassinet to those who qualify), discounts on self-pay labs (with provider’s order), blood pressure checks (free), Health Education (diabetes, diet, blood pressure, smoking cessation, and others), vaccines for children and health screenings (free, lead, A1C, weight, height, hemoglobin, blood pressure)
Immaculate Conception Church Lenten Fish Fry Dinner will be served March 20 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s School Hall, Montrose. Dine-in and carry will be served. The menu is fried fish, Suzy Q’s, cole slaw, corn bread, cookies and a drink. Adults eat for $12, children under 10 for $8.

MU Extension in St. Clair County is offering a Tomato Grafting Workshop April 9, 2026 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the St. Clair County Library in Osceola. Ramon Arancibia, Horticulture Specialist, will be sharing his vast knowledge of essential tomato and fruit tree grafting techniques. The workshop is designed to provide hands-on grafting experience as an approach to control soilborne diseases and improve crop yield. By grafting scion plants with desirable fruit characteristics onto rootstock plants that have disease resistance, stress tolerance or vigorous root system characteristics, grafted plants combine beneficial traits from both the scion and rootstock plants. There is no cost to attend the workshop but registration is required by contacting the Extension office at (417) 646-2419 or come to the office at the courthouse Tuesday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
