HARRISONVILLE, Mo. — Motorists traveling through Harrisonville should prepare for possible delays beginning in early April as resurfacing work gets underway on Missouri Route 2.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a pilot car operation will be in place on both eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 2 between Independence Street and Missouri Route ZZ starting at approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, April 6. The project is expected to continue through 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, weather permitting.
Officials emphasize that the roadway will not be completely closed, but drivers may experience delays as traffic is guided through the work zone by a pilot car during lane closures associated with the resurfacing work.
MoDOT reminds motorists to slow down and stay alert in work zones, noting that construction areas can vary and may include temporary lane closures for repairs or debris removal.
The Kansas City District of MoDOT maintains more than 7,000 miles of state roadway across nine counties. Drivers can find updates on projects and work zones by visiting MoDOT’s website, following MoDOT Kansas City on social media, or calling 888-ASK-MODOT for more information.
