Motorists traveling along U.S. Highway 50 in Johnson County should prepare for lane closures beginning Monday, March 30, as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) starts bridge rehabilitation work west of Knob Noster.
According to MoDOT, crews will be working on the westbound U.S. 50 bridge over Clear Creek. During the project, both eastbound and westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.
Traffic patterns will also change. Westbound drivers will be shifted onto the eastbound lanes using crossovers, creating a head-to-head configuration as vehicles cross the eastbound bridge before returning to the westbound lanes.
The work is expected to continue through June 2026, weather permitting.
MoDOT reminds motorists to slow down and stay alert in work zones, noting that lane closures can be temporary or short-term as crews perform repairs or remove roadway debris.
For updates on this and other projects, drivers can visit MoDOT’s website, follow MoDOT Kansas City on social media, or call 888-ASK-MODOT.
