A potentially dangerous situation in northern Henry County ended safely Thursday morning after a coordinated water rescue effort along K Highway, just north of Germantown.

Emergency crews responded after a vehicle was overtaken by rapidly rising floodwaters, leaving the individual stranded in a tree. First responders from multiple agencies worked together to safely rescue the subject, who is now out of danger.

Authorities say the incident highlights how quickly conditions can change during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding.

Agencies assisting in the rescue included the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Urich Fire, Montrose Fire, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Department of Conservation, MoDOT, Henry County Dispatch, and GVMH Ambulance.

Earlier in the morning, officials reported widespread flooding across parts of Henry County, prompting urgent warnings for motorists.

Emergency officials continue to stress the importance of avoiding flooded roadways.

“Turn Around, Don’t Drown” remains the key message, as even shallow water can be powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the roadway.

Drivers are urged to use extreme caution, avoid water-covered roads, and give emergency crews space to respond safely.
