Missouri’s drought picture is a bit complicated this week.
The latest drought monitor map shows an area of moderate drought and abnormally dry conditions in northeastern Missouri has shrunk in size, thanks to recent thunderstorms moving through. However, an abnormally dry area in southwestern Missouri has expanded and moderate drought conditions have developed in Joplin and Neosho. Overall, nearly 80% of Missouri is not experiencing any dry conditions at all, an improvement over last week’s figure of nearly 75%. Missouri remains under a drought alert until September 1st.
